WHAT DID WE PROVIDE?
Across the two-year partnership, the program implemented a wide range of sequential and age-appropriate arts-based learning experiences across participating schools.
In Year 1, activities primarily focused on painting, collage, textures, observation, and material exploration to strengthen investigation and problem-solving skills. Children were encouraged to observe details in their surroundings, experiment with colours and materials, and create responses based on personal interpretation.
In Year 2, the curriculum expanded further to include collaborative and inquiry-based activities where children worked together through open-ended challenges, shared ideas, and participated in collective exploration processes.

KEY OUTCOMES:
Over the course of the two-year partnership, the program contributed to visible changes in classroom participation, student engagement, facilitator confidence, and overall classroom culture.
- Children demonstrated stronger observation and investigation skills, greater willingness to experiment, and improved confidence in expressing ideas. Many facilitators observed that students gradually moved away from copying peer work and began creating more independent and original responses.
- The introduction of collaborative activities in Year 2 further strengthened communication, peer learning, and teamwork among students. Classrooms increasingly became spaces where children shared ideas, solved problems together, and learned through collective participation.
- Students also demonstrated adaptability and creative problem-solving by using alternative materials and finding new ways to complete activities even when resources were limited.
- The program also contributed to increased student participation and attendance, more active and child-centered classrooms, stronger peer interaction, and greater appreciation for arts-based learning within schools.
- Professional development workshops also strengthened facilitator confidence in conducting inquiry-based and open-ended learning sessions.
"This collective mode of learning is gradually shifting classroom dynamics from comparison and competition towards cooperation, empathy, and mutual respect.”

“Earlier, I did not have much interest in drawing and always found it difficult. But after the activity on lines and shapes, it became easier.”

LONG TERM IMPACT
Beyond immediate classroom engagement, the partnership has contributed toward building more inclusive, participatory, and inquiry-driven learning cultures within schools.
Over the two years, children increasingly demonstrated confidence in expressing ideas, collaborating with peers, and approaching problems creatively. Facilitators also became more comfortable using open-ended and child-centered approaches within classrooms.
The program has helped position arts-based learning not as an “extra activity,” but as a meaningful pathway for supporting holistic development, participation, creativity, communication, and critical thinking within school education.
The long-term vision remains rooted in creating classrooms where children feel encouraged to question, explore, experiment, collaborate, and learn with confidence.
