“The most valuable experience that the program has offered is that it has helped the children learn how to consider various perspectives, narrow down to a few things, and consider their points of emphasis that can help them put across their ideas powerfully. To see how willingly each student gave and received feedback was also great.”
Hands-on & Experiential
Exploration and experimentation—getting ones hands in the process—is essential to understand the mechanics of things, and experience deep and meaningful learning. Our programmes offer children and teachers ample hands-on opportunities to test and manipulate materials and ideas, make connections, and discover the numerous possibilities hidden within.
True learning is a dynamic and interactive process—where questions posed encourage children to think as they formulate their own responses, recognize and embrace diverse points of view, and develop deep understanding. We use inquiry to activate learning, enabling children to dig deep, uncover, as well as tinker and engage with content.
Deep and meaningful learning develops over time. Keeping this in mind, the learning experiences that we offer are thoughtfully sequenced, giving children several opportunities to explore and experiment, apply what they have learned, reflect on the outcomes, revisit concepts, and build upon them with increased complexity.
What We Believe In
21st Century Learning and Life Skills Are Not Optional, But A Necessity.
21st century learning and life skills that include creativity, problem solving, communication, collaboration, and more, have a profound positive impact on children’s participation in school, life, and work. These skills must be given a more prominent position within the school curriculum, and must be more intentionally taught to all children.
Creativity is an Essential 21st Century Skill with Far Reaching Benefits.
Creativity has been identified, across industries, as the most important skill necessary for future success (IBM Global CEO Study, 2010). A creative individual is one who has the capacity to use imagination, come up with original ideas that have the potential to create impact, and fundamentally innovate the way things are. It is a skill that prepares children to imaginatively navigate complex situations and tasks. We should offer sustained opportunities to develop this invaluable skill in children.
Art Provides for Rich and Varied Opportunities to Develop These Valuable Skills and Dispositions.
Research indicates that meaningful engagements with art contribute to the development of valuable thinking skills and attitudes whose benefits extend well beyond the art room. The ability to pose questions, test ideas, take creative risks, solve artistic problems, think flexibly, deal with ambiguity, are just some of the many skills and attitudes that are developed and strengthened through engagements with art. Given its value, we must ensure that vibrant art experiences are abundantly made available to children.
